OUR

LOCATION

Finkle Green is a newly refurbished bed and breakfast on the edge of Wortley Village in the Pennine Lowlands, just off the Stocksbridge bypass which links west to Manchester and east to the M1 and A1.  The village has an excellent Gastro Pub serving high quality food, well stocked Post Office /Store, CAMRA award winning Club, Tea Shop, Historic Hall, Vintage Shop and Ancient Church.

The detached cottage is set in a peaceful rural setting within 3/4 acre of private garden, surrounded by open fields and with panoramic views of the rolling Yorkshire countryside and the Peak District moorlands.

Located in excellent walking and cycling country and within the northern reaches of the Peak District National Park, and just 5 minutes from the TransPennine Trail Wortley junction in the middle of the Tour Depart and Tour de Yorkshire 2017 routes - we even watched the Yorkshire race from our front garden! There are varied opportunities for outdoor activities including walking, cycling, climbing, equestrian and water sports. For guests’ convenience secure storage for bikes and outdoor wear is provided.

There are a whole host of cultural attractions in close proximity, The Barbara Hepworth Gallery, Wakefield and nearby Yorkshire Sculpture Park with its outdoor art gallery set in 500 acres of countryside are both 30 minutes’ drive.  For the younger members of the family Yorkshire Wildlife Park is 32 minutes away and the latest Gulliver’s Kingdom, just 25 minutes drive.

Surprising for its rural location the city of Sheffield is only a 20 minutes drive, it is the home of Sheffield Wednesday FC (15 mins) and Sheffield United FC, the Institute of Sport, FLYDSA arena, Crucible Theatre (home of the World Snooker Championship), Botanical Gardens and Winter Gardens and Kelham Island, which was named the Travel Supermarket’s best Hip Hangout Neighbourhood 2017. If you are looking for retail therapy, Meadowhall shopping centre is 10 min drive.
